We decided to tried out Ikuza after finished late night shift. Now we have a new place to hang out. Good vive. Fun decor. Food is super good. Especially oyster, they are so fresh!! We order two dozens they were gone in a second.
Excellent food, service and price, we ordered the ramen lunch special, wished the broth is a bit hotter in temperature, but othetwise I have nothing negative to say, will definitely go back.
Ramen The lunch special ramen, priced at 8.50, is served with half a tamago egg, seaweed, and green onions. I highly recommend the black tonkotsu ramen, which offers a well-balanced flavor profile that is not overly salty, with a generous portion perfect for one person. Rolls Lobster Roll: 10/10. Consistently excellent, as always. Mango Roll: 10/10. A delightful and refreshing choice, perfectly executed. Yakitori Beef Tongue: 5/10. While tender and juicy, I personally prefer thinner slices. I would also recommend an extra grilling for added texture. Unagi: 10/10. A standout favorite, consistently delicious. Teriyaki Chicken Skewer: 10/10. Perfectly cooked with a great balance of flavor. Prime Rib: 10/10. A truly satisfying dish, cooked to perfection.
Went to ikusa for many times with my friends and myself. It is a good place to have meals alone and the service is excellent. The style of store is excellent and it let me feel dine in Japan. I love yakitori (scallop, pork belly and chicken skin)and fried rice. I will recommend to other friends for the good service, food and environment. I have visited this restaurant for more time. The service keeps awesome and the food quality is good. Beautiful looks and fresh food.
The place was packed (Sunday evening). Not as spacious as the other Ikusa restaurant on Macleod Trail. This one offers slightly different Japanese dishes compared to the one on Macleod Trail. Sashimi was fresh, the rolls were ok, the rice were not firm enough. Teriyaki dishes were just right. Noodle bowls were larger than normal. Prices were average for Calgary Japanese restaurants.
We traveled over 800 miles to visit Calgary, and IKUSA Izakaya & Tokyo Market delivered the best meal of our entire trip. Every single dish was flawless—from the two perfectly crafted rolls to the sizzling steak hot plate and the light, crispy shrimp tempura. The flavors were bold, fresh, and unforgettable. What truly set this experience apart, though, was the service. Evelyn was an outstanding server—warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Even the host went out of their way to make us feel welcome and taken care of. We hope to be back someday!
Had a large group dinner at the restaurant fews weeks ago. Food was extremely fresh and nice and the boss (I remember called Vincent or Vince) was very professional. We were recommended with food according to each of our preference. Price was also very reasonable and overall an excellent dining experience. 100% will go visit again soon. Recommended!
Phenomenal. Great sushi and miso soup. Fresh and well prepared food. Nice staff and cute items for sale as well.
